The Clay Hightower Tennis Academy offers its overnight camps at Berry College, just outside of Rome, GA. The 5-day, overnight camps take place entirely on Berry College's beautiful campus. The camps are residential, coeducational, and open to all levels of tennis players from ages 10 to 17. Campers spend their days in a variety of activities with the focal point being 5 to 6 hours of fun-filled tennis instruction.

Our goals are to improve each camper 's tennis skills and to have fun while doing it. An integral part of the program is teaching the basics of hard work and good sportsmanship. Tennis instruction focus is on proper grips, footwork, positioning, stroke production, shot selection, and strategy. Each camper has the opportunity to hit hundreds of balls during basket drills, live ball drills, and match-play situations. Camp Director Clay Hightower is the head tennis coach at Berry College for both the men 's and women 's teams. He brings with him 27 years of experience at the college level as a player and a coach. In his 19 seasons as Berry's coach, Coach Hightower has over 450 wins. He has led his teams to 10 conference championships and 27 appearances (13 for the women and 14 for the men) at the NAIA National Championships. Clay lives in Rome with his wife, Leslie, and two children, Caroline and Carter. Co-Camp Director Dennis den Boer was born and raised in the Netherlands and is a Berry College (tennis) alumini. Throughout his college career, Dennis reached a top-5 national ranking in singles and top-3 ranking in doubles. He was named All- Conference player of the year in both 2003 and 2004, as well as All-American for two consecutive years. Dennis is owner of the college athletic recruiting company MADE Scholarships LLC and he has extensive teaching experience in both The Netherlands as here in The United States. Both camp directors Clay Hightower and Dennis den Boer have years of experience in organizing camps and are both excited about the upcoming 2012 edition! Most of the days the daily schedule will be: 6:55 Rise and Shine! 7:30 Breakfast 8:15 On the tennis court, stretching and tennis tips 8:30 Drills and instruction 11:30 Lunch 1:30 Drills and match play 4:00 Sports activities, or more tennis instruction 4:45 Free time 5:30 Dinner 6:30 Evening activity 10:00 Lights Out In addition to instruction, court drills, and match play, campers will receive daily lectures on the mental aspects of tennis, conditioning, rules of the game, strategy, and sportsmanship.
