Great Internet resources for kids in business
Every few months I try to let you in on a few great websites for kids and doing business. The quick changes in the Internet and the amount of websites that show up, and then many that go away, make this an even more challenging column.
There are some great resources for kids doing business. More and more companies, schools, educators, etc., are coming to the web with new ideas and new websites all the time. Here are a few samples of just several that I have found in the past few months.
Worried about your money, how to invest it, how to make it do a little work for you? Check out the KIDSBANK (www.kidsbank.com) where you can learn to manage a bank account. Play games that involve these ideas. You can actually make deposits and open your own "real" account. Put your money making ideas funds in here. Next thing you know, you may tell your mom you have a million dollars in the bank!
At NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC (www.nationalgeographic.com/kids) you can not only find out about kids around the world, but when you look a little deeper into the site you will find out about things that kids in other countries may want to buy from you. This could help you create your own worldwide business.
KIDSCAMPS says they are the most comprehensive site on the web for camps designed for kids. Now with summer already underway, here are many options for something to do. But if you like the business world you can go to a specific camp made for kids who want to learn more about business. The closest camp to Fort Walton Beach is in Orlando, but they occur throughout the year at many places around the United States and Canada (www.kidscamp.com) then go to the academics section and business pages after that.
Wanna take a class this summer in how to do business as a kid, then I recommend this one. Good price, great information, and personalized contact help makes this a great site to learn (http:/www.aabroxis.com/bigmoney/kids.htm) Jamila Harris, president of Harris Associates and creator of the entrepreneurship model, teaches children ages 6 to 19 all the business basics, such as starting, operating, marketing, advertising, foreign languages (French, Spanish, Japanese). Instructors of the highest quality with previous entrepreneurship teaching experience provide instruction.
Keep up with technology and you could be the next Bill Gates! Good luck!
