Camp Information

Camp Ak-O-Mak

Directors: Dianne Young

Camp Ak-O-Mak was founded in 1928 on the shores of beautiful Ahmic Lake in Ontario. For 84 years we have been carrying on the camping traditions and core values of sportsmanship, friendship, and respect for self, others and the environment in which we play every day. Ak-O-Mak is known internationally as one of North America's finest sports wilderness residential camps for girls ages 7 to 16. We offer instruction in 25 different sports and use the venue of sport as the template for helping girls discover their special talents and inner strengths. This inner strength is discovered via the physical challenges and goals that we encounter each day at camp, whether it be a canoe trip to a local water fall, a cross-country run with a group of friends, or pulling together as a team for the last minutes of a soccer game! The girls enjoy cabin living with campers of their own age. Two or three counselors live in the cabin with the girls. Our counselors are hand-picked and each one cherishes her role as a friend, mentor, role model and hero to her campers. If you come to Camp Ak-O-Mak, you will learn to paddle a canoe in no time! You will enjoy yummy, home-cooked meals in our beautiful, rustic Main-House, and you will return to your parents singing the same crazy camp songs that we have been singing for decades!
