There are two basic types of language Camp. The first type, which is the more expensive option, is directed at teens and offers an out-of-country experience, in which participants can be fully immersed in the culture and language of their choice. The other type is more accessible; camps are located within the United States or Canada with certified teachers from around the world to bring the language to the participants. This option is more reasonable for kids of a young age. Additionally, it is much easier on your wallet. Summer language camps abroad, along with the expected language classes, include diverse touristic excursions and opportunities to interact with locals. The other language camps surround kids in as much of the culture and language possible without leaving the country. This usually means native speakers, and in some cases, an imitation of the architecture and landscaping of the country being studied.
What to Pack: Your child should pack weather appropriate clothing for whichever country he or she chooses to visit. A bilingual dictionary is highly recommended, as well as sunblock and bug spray for most locations.
Highlights: For many language camps, the highlights are visiting famous monuments such as the Eiffel Tower or the Colosseum, to name a few.
