Camp Presqu'ile

Camp Presqu'ile is a unique summer camp located in South Western Ontario (Location Map) that focuses on the camper's development in "spirit mind and body." Through low camper staff ratios, campers are able to be members of a community that focuses on fun, fair play and building relationships with fellow campers. From Presqu'ile's humble beginnings in 1929, its commitment to mentorship has kept our focus on our campers.

Over the past 60 years the Owen Sound Rotary Club has worked hard at developing a summer over night camp for children. In partnership, the Owen Sound Rotary Club and Family YMCA are proud to offer high quality summer camping experience for all children to enjoy. Along with a beautiful, modern site, Camp Presqu'ile offers a wide variety of programs ensuring we have something for everyone. Through interactive programs and a community focus our campers will have fun, develop friendships, and create memories that last forever. Camp is a place where children are free to be kids, where your imagination can take you on many adventures, a place to have the time of your life.

Programs

Our campers have the opportunity to develop or choose their own program by selecting the activity of their choice for each of the 4 program periods a day. Each camper can attend their favorite activities yet still challenge themselves by trying new activities. All activities are designed to teach basic skills with a focus on personal growth and group dynamics through a fun, recreational approach. A well maintained site with modern equipment and a balance of programs (sport to leisure and water to land) ensures that we meet a wide variety of interests. All sports at camp are played under the guidelines that the winner of the game is not always the team that scored the most goals, but the team that had the most fun. All sports are facilitated with an emphases on fair play, teamwork and fun.

Integration Camping

In cooperation with Project Rainbow we are proud to be able to integrate campers with special needs into our traditional and leadership programs. With the one-on-one support buddies, our campers have the freedom they need to learn social and interaction skills with the safety and security of a friend right beside them.

Leadership

Leadership Programs are divided into three levels based on age. Each experience is different in duration and content, building on the previous years program. Through a mixture of interactive games, group initiatives and practical teachable moments, campers are taught life and camp specific leadership skills. The Leaders start their experience off by learning how to build a community. Once they have accomplished working together then they learn how to work with campers and facilitate programs.

Adventure Quest

Be the hero of a mythic quest! Your child is the hero of a mythic quest in an incredibly fun, award-winning experience like none other! Journey into a co-created story where every decision matters. Do you dare explore the jungle ruins of Djinnos? Can you salvage parts from Black Bart's sloop to repair your vessel before the kraken awakens? Can you out-riddle Frozh the dragon of eternal winter?

In small groups of like ages, the heroes read maps, solve mysteries and riddles, overcome dynamic challenges, and battle using safe, foam swords. As with all Renaissance Adventures programs, Adventure Quest is designed to develop teamwork, critical thinking, ethical reasoning, communication, and other 21st century skills.

Star Quest

Intrepid adventures in space! Star Quest is a science fiction live-action roleplaying game similar in many ways to Adventure Quest... the Questers band together in small groups of like age to discover strange new worlds, overcome dynamic challenges, negotiate intergalactic treaties, and battle using blasters (beanbags) and starsabers (foam swords). The themes and settings explore futuristic mainstays like warp speed, mech suits, tapping into the "Meta" for telepathic powers, time travel, cyberpunk netrunning, alien "hive mind" sentience, and more. Join us for an exciting, active, and mind-bending programs that are a short ways off, in a galaxy really, really close.

Quest & Quill

Adventure Quest + Creative Writing! Questers write about the stories unfolding in their quests, their heroic character, or any topic that inspires them. In the tradition of the Norse Skalds, we focus on the enjoyment of writing, self-expression, and the oratory arts of reading aloud and hearing others. We do not focus on grammar, spelling, or writing style.

By participating in daily "Guild Challenges," every Quester's writing earns character powers and treasures in the Adventure Quest program that is a part of Quest & Quill.

Quest & Quill Summer Quests give the opportunity to write and develop short stories, with the potential to craft a tale to include in the Adventure Quest: Stories publication (released in book stores and Amazon).

Knight CIT

The Knight CIT offering at Renaissance Adventures is a unique leadership program where the teens become the mentor to a group of younger kids and assistant to our adult counselors. Knights join an Adventure Quest group, who are playing the heroes of a mythic quest. Adventure Quest is experiential education through live-action roleplaying, and the participants solve mysteries and riddles, overcome dynamic challenges, and battle foes using safe, foam swords. Knight CITs assist the Quest Leader to help with activities, challenges, storytelling, plot dynamics, characters, safety, and leadership.
