New friends, positive values, personal growth, great adventures, and OUTRAGEOUS FUN are the foundations of the Camp Anokijig experience! Since 1926, this Southeastern Wisconsin summer camp has provided a picturesque landscape for unforgettable childhood memories. Nestled within the northern unit of the Kettle Moraine Forest, near Plymouth, WI, Camp Anokijig offers all of the traditional youth camp experiences and activities you would expect, plus so much more! We believe an Anokijig camp experience will provide your child with opportunities to learn and grow and develop lifelong skills to become contributing members of their communities.

All campers may choose to participate in horse related activities on a daily basis. But, if you want to spend more time down at the corral, you can sign up in advance for one of our two horse-related specialty programs: Ranch and Circle A Riders. Ranch is for campers entering seventh grade or above. Circle A Riders is for campers entering fourth through sixth grade. In each program, participants spend a portion (2.5 hours) of their day learning horse care and riding techniques on our working ranch. We teach and ride in Western tack. Instruction comes from our experienced wranglers, many of whom have come up through the Anokijig Ranch program. Campers utilize 300 acres of open fields, wooden trails, and a riding ring for practice. Riding techniques are taught through a series of games, activities, and special events not just around and around in a ring. Each camper is provided with his or her own horse to ride and care for under the close supervision of our staff.

Campers in Ranch may choose to participate in our 'scarf program,' which recognizes the successful accomplishment of different riding levels and skills. Our riding programs are open to all levels of experience. We aim to improve your child's riding ability by one level through a week of participation in our program. All riders are required to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes (boots preferred!), and an approved horseback riding helmet. You may bring your own helmet or use one of ours. When not in the saddle, campers may enjoy the other activities offered during the day. These programs have limited enrollment, so register early!
