The Woods Camp

Established in 1946, The Woods has always focused on one mission: Where Christ Is First. For almost 80 years, our camp has existed to bring children, students and adults closer to God. Pastor Lance Latham wanted inner city children to have an escape from the city and a place to connect with God.

Building The Woods has been a monumental effort that would not have succeeded without God’s blessings of gifts, labor and prayer. A single structure stood alone on the original campgrounds which now has over 60 cabins and buildings. The campgrounds have been a place of kingdom-building where eternal decisions have been made, lives have been dedicated and restoration has taken place.

Today, The Woods is a place for people from all backgrounds to connect with God through meaningful sessions, unforgettable activities, and a breathtaking environment. Much has changed over the many seasons with the faces, facilities and programs. But the message remains the same and the legacy continues.

The future is bright as we continue to expand camp through new buildings, staff and cabins. Our vision is to reach the Midwest with the Gospel. We can’t wait to see how God will continue to impact lives for eternity at a place where Christ is first.
