About Baptist Camps and Programs
Baptist camp is perfect for kids looking to strengthen their faith and make more friends at the same time. These types of camps typically operate in much the same way as a traditional summer camp, but with a focus on the Baptist religion. They may offer group sessions and workshops, prayer times and church services, along with the fun things like swimming, basketball, nature hikes, campfires and even dances. Those looking for leadership in their faith can attend a church camp, which introduces and strengthens the foundations of the church as well as provides an outlet for youngsters to explore friendships.
What to Ask the Camp Director: Can I sign my child up online? A Christian camp may have forms online for you to fill out and submit virtually. Others have the forms online for download, but they have to be filled out by hand and mailed in, along with payment.
Highlights: Some Christian camps have a special focus, such as scrapbooking. Sign up your child for a weekend stay to learn a new hobby or strengthen an old one, all within a religious environment.
Counselor Certifications: All counselors should be thoroughly background checked. Some are volunteers, others are lay people, and still others are clergy men and women.
