About Co-Educational Sailing Camps and Programs

A sailing camp provides both adventure and a learning experience. This camp seeks to teach students who are interested in water activities to learn the fascinating sport of sailing. In the first part of the camp, students will be taught the theoretical aspects of sailing through sit-down lectures and seminars. They will also learn through expert sailors and demonstrations. In the second part of the camp, students will engage in the sport themselves. At first, they will go sailing with direct supervision from a camp counselor. Eventually, they will be allowed to maneuver the sailboat on their own with other fellow students.

Highlights: The major highlight of these sailing camps is the hands-on sailing activity of riding the sailboat and maneuvering it. Some camps even provide fun and exciting activities that involve racing of sailboats, to add friendly competition into the activity.

Weather Considerations: Since this is an outdoor activity, the weather should be warm and sunny. Most of these are summer sailing camps so students can enjoy consistent good weather.

Safety: Safety is a prime factor to consider. Sailing can be a dangerous sport if safety precautions are not taken. Ask the camp director about the safety guidelines and the availability of emergency facilities and lifeguards during the duration of the camp.
