About Astronomy Camps and Programs
Astronomy camp is meant to capture your child's interest in the universe and our place in it. Activities will often be based on mathematics, as astronomy and math are intricately connected. Astronomy camps usually provide introductory classes taught by professionals during the day to explain and prepare for night observation sessions. This helps kids get a better understanding of the objects and phenomena that they see in the night sky. Some astronomy summer camps lead the kids on night hikes to make observing the cosmos even more interesting. Occasionally, the camp leaders will take the whole group on a trip, or various trips, to a planetarium to reinforce what they have learned.
Learning Skills: Astronomy camps have a lot of emphasis on math and how math can be applied when studying the universe. This is great reinforcement and practice for any school math, science or physics course. Kids will also learn to get along and work as a team on different astronomy projects.
