Theatre at St. Michael's Camp - We invite young performing artists to come together with our talented staff for an amazing summer of theatre! TASM uses each individual's talents to create, rehearse, and produce a unique theatrical event. These events include an original movie screened at the Jane Pickens Theater, an original musical written by the campers and given a world-premiere performance, and a pair of Shakespearean plays. Campers are involved in all aspects of the production, both onstage and off, developing existing theatre talents (although no previous experience is necessary), learning new skills, and making lifelong friends along the way. Our sessions this summer include the Original Movie Production (June 26 - July 7), Original Musical Production (July 10 - July 29) and Shakespeare Camp "As You Like It" (July 31 - August 12), all for ages 9-15, as well as our Teen Shakespeare Intensive "King Lear" (July 3 - 15), for ages 14-18. TASM also offers a popular tech program for those young thespians who would rather be behind the scenes - they will learn proper use of tools and equipment so they can help with the design and creation of the set, props, costumes, and also run sound, lights, and special effects during rehearsals and performances. All sessions are led and directed by theatre professionals, and the end-of-session productions are invariably well-attended smash hits. Cost varies by session, and financial aid is available. About Rhode Island Music Camps and Programs
For children and teenagers with an ear for tunes, music camps provide a fulfilling and rich experience that blends fun, discipline, and creativity. Music camps offer professional training, daily practice, and performance opportunities to help your child develop, regardless of whether they are just starting out in music or are already singing or playing an instrument. These programs give young people a unique opportunity for self-expression that can’t be found at many other programs or schools.
At music camp, children are encouraged to venture outside of their comfort zones through performing in front of their classmates, joining group ensembles, or creating original music. As music students gain new abilities and track their development, they gain more and more self-confidence in the art form. Additionally, music camps instill endurance, patience, and focus, which will benefit campers long after the program is over.
As campers practice with their band or orchestra, harmonize in choirs, or work together on group performances, they frequently develop strong friendships and a sense of community. Tackling the technical and creative challenges posed by music helps build bonds and empathy with inclusive groups of campers. In order to create well-rounded experiences, many music camps also include enjoyable recreational activities for time away from practice.
Music camps are a great option for parents who want to both creativity and structure for their budding musician. Young people can hone their skills, experiment with new instruments and genres, and develop personally at these camps. Whether your child wants to pursue a career in music or just loves to play, music camp offers a supportive environment where they can explore and develop their passion. They will leave with more than just new songs, but also improved abilities and priceless memories.
