Tennis camp is perfect for children who either have expressed an interest in tennis or already know the basics and want to become more proficient. Junior tennis camps tend to accommodate children of all ages and levels of ability. Tennis summer camps teach campers proper footwork and the required body mechanics in addition to other fundamental skills required for this sport. Campers learn how to play not only as singles but also as doubles. Drills and skill training complement match play programs that let campers play against similar level opponents.
Equipment to Bring: Campers should plan on bringing their own rackets, court shoes and court clothing. Many tennis camps also include other sports such as swimming, so always check ahead of time for additional equipment or clothing that may be required.
Highlights: Tennis camps often have a challenge ladder system in place, allowing campers to climb or descend the ladder during their time of play as they win or lose matches.
What to Ask the Camp Director: Always inquire as to the number of available tennis courts and about how much time each child will have playing tennis. Also inquire as to the instructor to student ratio. You want your camper to receive as much personal attention as possible.
