      About Sewing Camps and Programs

In sewing camp, children will learn how to sew different projects such as clothes, crafts and home decor items. Each curriculum shows what projects will be made, so kids can take several classes at a time, limited only by the level of their sewing skills. Different programs are available for different categories, such as quilting, embroidery or fashion design, and for different themes, such as Halloween, the holidays or the beach. Kids will learn sewing and sewing machine basics, measuring, patterns and finishing techniques that will help develop their hand-eye coordination, creativity, skills in math and following instructions.

Highlights: Some sewing camps hold fashion shows at the end of camp term, where the campers are given the chance to showcase and model the items they have created. Other camps include field trips to fabric stores.

Equipment to Bring: Most camps provide for the equipment, as well as fabrics, supplies, patterns and tools. Some camps that don't will hand out a complete list of materials during registration. Some camps allow campers to bring other fabrics if they wish.

Levels of Expertise: There's a sewing program for each level of expertise regardless of age, often with the beginner levels required before the advanced levels can be taken.
