      About Yoga Camps and Programs

Any yoga camp for kids encourages relaxation, coordination and flexibility, which can improve school performance and behavior. Availability at these camps is usually limited, due to a preference for small groups, so apply early. Yoga summer camps go to great lengths to create a nurturing, nonjudgmental and noncompetitive atmosphere, so that kids can feel comfortable trying new poses and using their creativity. Other activities such as meditation, making nature crafts and gardening are often included in yoga camps as well, to mix up the day's events and keep kids entertained and distraction-free. Healthy, organic snacks are usually offered during breaks to keep with the theme of health and well-being.

Equipment to Bring: Kids are welcome to bring their own yoga materials such as mats, yoga socks, props, etc., but equipment is available for those who do not bring their own. Only rarely is a fee charged to rent yoga accessories.

Safety: Yoga is a form of exercise and relaxation that's safe for both boys and girls of any age. The idea of yoga is not to overexert yourself in any pose, so injuries are not common. Instructors should be certified in yoga, and yoga rooms should be clean and free of any sharp or harmful objects.
