Enuresis camp is a type of special needs camp that seeks to help children with incontinence or enuresis problems (bedwetting). These camps provide a safe and relaxed environment where this difficulty is addressed as a common and normal problem that should not cause fear, trauma or shame. Aside from helping resolve the problem, the programs that are held during this camp promote self confidence, teach positive values and encourage interaction among children. Children will have fun not only in playing and talking with their peers, but also realize that they are not the only ones who have this problem. It will be easier for them to cope with enuresis in this manner.
Highlights: There are various kinds of programs and activities offered in enuresis camps. Common examples include martial arts, swimming, obstacle courses, archery, arts and crafts, pottery, craft making, talent shows, hiking, campfires and games.
Special Counselor Considerations: An enuresis camp counselor should have background in child psychology with specific experience in dealing with children with enuresis. This way, camp personnel can provide a stress-free atmosphere that will help children get through this challenging phase.
KidsCampTip: Parents should help their children realize that bedwetting is not something to be ashamed of and that is a common problem experienced by children worldwide. However, children should have enough motivation to solve the difficulty of bedwetting by following the advice and guidelines taught during the enuresis camp.
