A rowing camp aims to develop your child's skills in rowing. Some camps cater to students in beginner levels while some to novice and advanced levels. Depending on the focus of the camp, your child may learn the basic of sweep rowing, techniques of special rowing, or rowing on water. Your child may also be taught of the different aspects related to rowing like strength and conditioning, mental training, racing, nutrition and flexibility through various fun-filled activities. Parents may choose to enroll their kids in camps that cater exclusively to males, females or coeds. This type of camp may be offered during summer and runs for several days.

KidsCamps Tip: Parents should choose a rowing program that will allow their kids to work with and learn from top rowing college coaches or members of a US national rowing team.

Equipment to Bring: Some rowing camps provide all the needed equipment for rowing. However, to make sure your child does not need to bring his or her own equipment or pay for a rental fee, ask the camp counselors.

Supervision: Most rowing camps are under the guidance of expert rowing coaches and college students. At night, counselors and coaches stay in the camp to provide security for your child.
