General academic camp is ideal for those kids who want to get an all-around experience to aid them in their general education. These camps feature a wide range of subjects, from traditional ones like English and math, to computers and high-tech applications. Your child can enroll in general academic camps during the summer to keep her mind sharp for the next school year. There may be individual sessions, coupled with group workshops and lectures. Kids also get some down time too, with fun activities ranging from games and contests to sports.

Highlights: In addition to academic instruction within classroom settings, many general academic camps offer fun activities in conjunction with learning, such as science experiments, nature hikes, fitness, nutrition and leadership activities.

Counselor Certifications: Camp instructors may comprise experienced educators and directors who offer programs, resources and general curricula designed to challenge and motivate students. They should have many years of experience in their chosen field, and should hold the proper licensing and certification requirements for your area as well.

What to Pack: Your child may need a brown bag lunch if none is provided. Pack warm or cool clothing, depending on the weather, plus comfortable sneakers, water bottles and any school books requested by the camp.
