Kayak camp is designed to teach kids and teens how to safely begin kayaking. They are usually taught correct paddling techniques, safety procedures, kayak etiquette and how to enter and exit a kayak from the water. Kids will learn about all of the necessary kayak equipment and safety gear and what each item is used for. Navigation and the reading of maps and landmarks will often be included in kayaking camps. Activities like swimming, wildlife observation and hiking are usually mixed in with kayak lessons as well.

Learning Skills: Kayaking is a great way to build your child's confidence, enhance concentration and improve coordination. It is also a great form of exercise that can help children stay healthy and fit. This sport also emphasizes responsibility, as there are many rules and reglulations involved, especially with regards to safety and etiquette.

Safety: Make sure that the instructors of the camp you choose are certified in kayaking as well as in first aid, water safety and CPR. Because the sport can be hazardous, it is always important to have qualified teachers present who will be able to deal with any possible accident or dangerous situation that may occur.
