A veterinary science camp is ideal for kids who are interested in pursuing careers in the field of animal science. Through lectures, demonstrations and hands-on opportunities, campers can learn basic skills in working with animals, like animal husbandry, handling and basic medical care. Often organized by universities as part of their animal science program, summer vet camps help kids become familiar with and explore various career opportunities in the world of veterinary science through classroom discussions, field excursions, laboratory work and supervised activities working on real veterinary concerns. Vet summer camps are specifically designed according to the participant's level of knowledge in the field. The organizers will have different sets of courses and activities arranged for the beginner, intermediate and advanced groups. The grouping is followed to make sure all the campers get the most out of the experience.

Highlights: Because some camps have their own zoos, the kids may get an opportunity to see actual animal surgeries being performed. Other fun activities include learning to diagnose animal diseases, treating and suturing wounds, and how to anesthetize animals using a tranquilizer gun.

Counselor Certifications: Most courses and lectures included in these programs are facilitated by researchers and instructors from affiliated universities, representatives from a local Animal Health Commission and qualified veterinary practitioners.
