New Jersey Special Needs Camps and Programs
Our camps are traditional, back to basics summer camps. Each camp offers an unplugged experience for children to reconnect with the outdoors while being introduced to a variety of activities. All our programs promote the YMCA's core values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility and Honesty developing self confident and independent campers.
HI-STEP Summer Social Skills Program / Camp New Jersey - may serve as Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) program ; HI-STEP: Helping Improve Social-skills Through Evidence-based Practices (ages 6-16) is a 5-week Summer Program (not a sleep-over program). Locations in Scotch Plains, Pennington and Marlton, New Jersey. We are designed to teach, improve, and generalize social skills and problem- solving skills.
Language study and exercise focus on providing the student with encouragement and a supportive environment. This program provides thorough classroom instruction in English by The Hun School of Princeton's International Program faculty. Students will:
-Learn basic vocabulary and important phrases in 'everyday English' that they would expect to hear while traveling and visiting America.
-Read interesting books and materials, matching their reading skill levels
-Practice writing with short compositions about their experiences on and off-campus. The students also keep a journal of their experiences and progress. ...
For kids entering 1st grade up to 16 yrs. Whether they want to perform, create sets & costumes or be a CIT, there's something for everyone. Campers learn about all aspects of musical theater while we focus on building their confidence & self-esteem. Ideal for all levels of experience or no experience at all. And we're not just Theater. Afternoons are activity-filled with swimming, indoor/outdoor games, relay races, scavenger hunts, kickball, contests & MORE! Camp Jotoni is a day and residential camp for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are located in Warren Township in Somerset County, New Jersey. Our Day Camp Program is a 9 week program ending the Friday before Labor Day. Our Residential Program runs the first six weeks of the summer and is broken down into weekly sessions. Families can choose between 5-night, 7-night, and 12-night sessions.
